How important is vacation time?
We all know work is important, but what about vacation? American workers are taking fewer and fewer vacation days each year, due in large part to the lean job market and the desire to get ahead. Unfortunately, there’s a price to be paid for doing that. Read this article from the Airs Directory Web site written by Diane E. Lewis of the Boston Globe. It may change your perspective about work, play, and the crucial balance that must be struck between the two.

Happy Holidays
From us and ours, to you and yours!
Welcome to the inaugural issue of the "Animal Science Monitor", the official newsletter of animalsciencemonitor.com. We are pleased and excited to be able to bring you what we hope you’ll find is a valuable and reliable resource dealing with the Animal Science industry. In this first issue, we’d like to introduce ourselves and give you a glimpse of what you can expect from our newsletter and our Web site.

Our goal is to bring you the latest career-related news in your industry, links to interesting articles, and the ability to search through active search assignments from top recruiters in your field. In the months ahead, you will find interviews with leading academics in the Animal Sciences and comments from top executives in animal biotechnology, animal nutrition, and animal health.

animalsciencemonitor.com and the "Animal Science Monitor" have been created by veteran recruiters Dan Simmons and Don Hunter. Between them, Dan and Don have 23 years of recruiting experience. They have endured the ups and downs of the economy throughout the years and have enjoyed considerable success placing top-quality and superstar candidates in positions ranging across a variety of fields and disciplines, including the Animal Science industry. You’re more than welcome to look around the Web site and certainly to search the vast database of jobs.

In 11 issues throughout the year (including a combined July-August edition), the "Animal Science Monitor" will contain numerous cutting-edge articles concerning the Animal Science field, as well as articles devoted to the workplace and the process of finding a job. The goal of the "Animal Science Monitor" is to provide you with the information you want when you want it.
  • For example, what will be your New Year’s resolution this year? To lose weight? Quit smoking? Surprisingly, neither of those will be the number-one resolution for people in 2005. Find out exactly what the most popular one will be in the January issue of the "Animal Science Monitor".
  • Or how about job growth in the Animal Science sector? Sure, the economy is improving, but what does that mean for you? We’ll talk with the people who know and ask them the questions you want answers to. Like what is the role that biotechnology is playing in the field? What lies ahead and what can we learn from what’s already happened? Check future issues for the answers to these questions and more.
So welcome to the first issue of the "Animal Science Monitor" and to animalsciencemonitor.com. Once again, we invite you to visit our Web site and check out all that it has to offer. It could be your first step toward the career you’ve always wanted.
